The fashion world has been rocked by an array of scandals including Slave earrings scandal, Vogue Paris’s heavily made-up young girls, Ms Obama’s nude debate, Topshop’s too thin model and John Galliano scandal. Let’s have a look at this article and know more about most controversial fashion moments of all time.

apologized for a website feature called “Slave earrings” blaming “really bad translation”. The feature, based on large, gold-hooped earrings featured a short burst of copy by Vogue writer Anna Bassi describing the trend, dating from 2010. “Jewellery has always flirted with circular shapes, especially for use in making earrings. The most classic models are the slave and creole styles in gold hoops.” wrote Anna Bassi. She continues: “If the name brings to the mind the decorative traditions of the women of colour who were brought to the southern Unites States during the slave trade, the latest interpretation is pure freedom. Colored stones, symbolic pendants and multiple spheres. And the evolution goes on.” But within hours of being published, the feature faced impaling worldwide criticism, the strongest of which claimed Vogue Italia was guilty of a “dishonorable” attempt to “glamorize slavery”.

On December 20110, a magazine issue featured a complicated Christmas gift guide guest-edited by designer Tom Ford with leaning on tiger-skins or sprawled on beds in full make-up and designer gowns. British designer John Galliano of French fashion arrested in February after allegations that he made anti-Semitic remarks towards a couple at a Paris café. After that, a video clip emerged of him apparently praising Hitler in a separate incident, prompting him to be dismissed and taken to jail.

The 18-year-old catwalk model Codie Young found her at the centre of controversy after criticisms that she looked too thin on the homepage of Topshop’s website in July. Topshop then removed image of model Codie Young from their website and replaced with an alternative shot of Young looking healthier.
