Regardless of how you approach it parenting teenagers is no small feat. You will likely see that this is a very chaotic time for teens and their parents. This article will give you some ideas on how to keep your relationship with your child positive.

It’s important for you to remember that you are not their best friend you are their parent. Many parents fall into the trap of trying so hard to remain close to their teenagers that they simply let them do whatever they want. Teenagers don’t always admit it but they really do want your advice and guidance. At times they also need certain limits, and if you don’t provide these, it’s unlikely anyone else will, at least not in a constructive way. Most kids who don’t have the necessary limits end up in trouble at school, and with the law. You don’t have to be authoritarian in your approach to parenting teenagers, but you have to let your teenager know that you care what they are doing and that some things are not allowed. One of the biggest influences a parent can have on their teenager is the example they provide. Parents often do not practice what they preach. Teens are more likely to drink or get high if their parents are doing it regardless of what the parents are telling them to do. You’ve probably experienced the parrot effect of your teens, they say what you say regardless of whether or not you’ve told them not to. Therefore, setting the example you want them to follow is one of the first principles of parenting teenagers.

Parenting teens often requires you to be the parent and now allow some things. When you don’t approve of their actions it’s important that you reinforce to them that you still love them and care about them even though their actions aren’t pleasing. What this means for you is that your discipline and rules need to be set within a state of neutrality rather than anger. Pick your battles carefully. It has to be clear that when you make rules, it’s for the well being and safety of everyone, not because you’re mad or that you don’t like them. You must keep the position as a parent who wants what is best for their child but also one who loves that child unconditionally. You’ll quickly find that this is not as easy as it looks. You can watch your teen grow into a budding adult despite the difficult moments. Remember you are not the only one going through a transition here, your teen is struggling as much as you are. We sincerely hope the tips here have been helpful in getting you through parenting a teenager.

Fox News contributor Charles Krauthammer, who has been absent from his post on “Special Report” for months as he recovers from surgery, released a statement about his condition and plan for the future.

“Thanks to all for your cards, letters and good wishes. I am still recovering from major surgery 12 weeks ago. I have graduated from the ICU to an advanced rehab facility to regain my strength and stamina,” Krauthammer said in the note, which was posted on Twitter by Bret Baier.

“It’s a longer road than anticipated, but the support of family, friends and kindly viewers continue to sustain me. In the immortal words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, I’ll be back,” he added.

Last month, Baier revealed that the conservative commentator “ran into complications post surgery.”

“He desperately wants to come back to the panel as soon as possible,” he continued. “Believe me, I speak to or email with his wife Robby almost every day. And I share your thoughts and prayers.”

But still, the exact details surrounding his surgery remain unclear.

Krauthammer, 67, is a fan favorite at the channel for not only his political insights but irreverent humor.

In addition to “Special Report”, he’s also a familiar face on Fox News’ election night coverage and was previously a regular on the “O’Reilly Factor” prior to its cancellation.

Krauthammer became paralyzed below the waist in a diving accident while he attended Harvard Medical School. He eventually left psychiatry for journalism. He won a Pulitzer Prize for Commentary in 1987.

What The Heck is an S Corporation?: https://youtu.be/i5to7Da3wMw
Top 10 Things Every LLC Needs: https://youtu.be/T826TLGEK9w

The three most common types of structures for a small business are the sole proprietor, LLC, and corporation. These are by no means the only options for business structure; there are many more options out there (e.g., general partnerships, limited partnerships, limited liability partnerships, cooperatives, non-profit corporations, etc.). But they are not nearly as common or popular as the sole proprietor, LLC and corporation. So I’m not going to talk about them here! 🙂

If you are operating as a sole proprietor, this means that you have not really formed any legal structure of a business entity. If you are just an individual making income from providing services or selling products and you have not registered anything with your state, then you are already operating as a sole proprietor. If you are operating under a trade name (e.g., if I am operating a lawn mowing service under the name “Aiden’s Lawn Mowing Service,” that would be the trade name), then you should file a Statement of Trade Name with the Secretary of State in order to register the fact that you are operating under that trade name. However, just because you file your trade name does not mean that you are an LLC or any kind of entity; you are still just a sole proprietor.

The LLC is the most popular entity formation and that is because (in Colorado, at least) an LLC is inexpensive and relatively simple to start and run. To form an LLC, all you have to do is file Articles of Organization with the Secretary of State (or whatever agency operates business organizations in your state) and boom! you’ve got yourself an LLC. Of course, there are other things you need to do to make sure your LLC is going to protect you personally and to avoid piercing the corporate veil.

Similar to a sole proprietor, all of the income to the business is taxed as if it were personal income to the business owner.

Finally, the biggest difference between an LLC and sole proprietor is that an LLC does give you that liability protection. So, if there is a lawsuit, or if the LLC is subject to some liability, then you as the business owner should be personally protected and your personal assets would most likely be safe from those liabilities.

When I say “corporation” in this context, I am referring to a C-Corporation specifically. (I’m going to touch on the S-Corporation in just a minute.) The corporation is a little bit more complicated and expensive to set up, but there are some instances where it would be useful to have a corporation. First, it’s important to know that there are three groups of players in a corporation: Shareholders, Board of Directors, and Officers. Shareholders are basically the owners; they own shares of the corporation. The Board of Directors is responsible for making decisions about the operation of the corporation. And the Officers are generally those that are actually participating in the business and managing the business and all of its activities.

Despite these various players, a small business can still form as a corporation and the Shareholder, Board of Directors, and Officers can all be one person. In other words, one person can hold multiple positions within the corporation. So, it is still possible to have a corporation as a small business and solo business owner.

To create a corporation, you will need to file Articles of Incorporation with the Secretary of State. You will also need to write Bylaws, which are essentially the same as an Operating Agreement, but with regards to a corporation. The Bylaws say how the corporation is going to be run and managed and operated. If there are going to be multiple shareholders, then you will probably also want to have a Shareholder Agreement.

One of the biggest drawbacks of a corporation is that corporations are subject to double taxation. When money comes into the business it is taxed at the corporate rate as income to the corporation, then when money is distributed to the shareholders, it is taxed again as dividends to the shareholders.

Finally, just like an LLC, the corporation provides liability protection to the Shareholders, the Board of Directors, and the Officers in most instances. So if there is a lawsuit over the corporation or if the corporation has debts or liabilities, the Shareholders, Board of Directors, and Officers are most likely going to be protected personally from those liabilities.

CarbonLite: Inside the World's Largest Plastic Bottle Recycling Plant

CarbonLite is the world’s largest “bottle-to-bottle” plastic recycling plant in Riverside, Calif.

“SoCal Connected” takes a look inside the state-of-the-art facility where billions of plastic bottles are churned on an annual basis. The process involves transforming old plastic bottles into PET pellets and flakes in order to produce new plastic bottles.

The bottles are required to go through metal detectors, a special “prewash” phase, and a label-removing facility before they can become shiny, brand new pellets.

Even though your plastic water bottle might not weigh as much, a square bale of plastic bottles can weigh more than 1,300 pounds, as Derrick Shore reveals in this segment of “SoCal Connected.”

Consistent article marketing can be tough. After you have been at it for a while, it can be extremely difficult to find new ideas for article stories. Sometimes the answer can be right under your nose or in front of your face. You can use the media to come up with ideas for your article efforts. This article will give you tips on how the news can be your friend. You can use the news to get ideas for your articles.

The quickest way to see what the hot topics of the day is to just go to Twitter. Usually they will have the trending topics listed on the sidebar. Usually there will be at least one topic that you can pick to write about. If you are a business writer, find something about a trending topic that you can apply to business and write about that. If you write in the parenting niche look for a parenting angle. It takes some creative thinking, but you can usually find something that’s trending and make an article about it.

Another way to use the media to get article ideas is to read press releases. There are several websites that do nothing but publish press releases people have written. A lot of times you can draw ideas from other people’s press releases. Chances are you can pull out some pain points or common questions your niche might have just from reading a few press releases claiming to have solved the problem your niche is having.

It can be hard coming up with original ideas for articles everyday. Look around you. Pay attention to what you can’t seem to get away from. Figure out how to apply that to your niche. This is one good way to beat writer’s block when it happens. Now let’s get busy writing great original articles.

And you can get a free ecourse on traffic generation. Just go to http://www.learnsmallbusiness.com and click on the words get free ecourse now.

Writing articles for newspapers can be a daunting task especially for beginners. Unlike in writing articles for magazines or websites, there are strict rules that you need to follow. Below are some ideas that can surely make the whole process a lot easier and manageable.

1. Write only those topics that are recent and newsworthy. Be very careful when choosing the stories for your articles. It’s important that you talk only about those issues that happened recently and those that have direct impact on the lives of your readers. There’s no way that you can write tips list or how to type of copies. The best stories are always those that are recent and controversial. Talk about what’s happening in the government, the latest development in economy, and interesting stories about sports and entertainment.

2. Always use inverted pyramid technique. There is no other way to write your news articles than using this writing technique. The rules say that you must offer your readers with all the most important information on your lead paragraph. Why? It’s because these people have limited attention span and most of them time, they do not read the articles in their entirety. Another reason is to make it easier for editors to trim the articles if needed. Editors can just remove the last paragraphs if they need to save some space.

3. Stick with facts. It’s important that you’re a responsible writer when writing for newspapers. You cannot afford to use unverified information as this may lead to complaints or worst, libel suits. To ensure that your data are based on facts, I would recommend that you conduct thorough research and interview as many people as possible (those who are connected to the stories that you’re writing about). Properly cite your sources all the time to be on the safe side.

4. Keep it short. As I said a while ago, the people you’re writing for have limited attention span and you have very limited space to fill up. It’s best if you keep your articles short but meaty. Tell your readers the information that they need to know without beating around the bush and without using fillers. Also, avoid inserting information that are irrelevant to your chosen stories.

5. Keep it objective and neutral. The worst thing that you can do in writing newspaper articles is taking sides. So, keep your articles factual and objective as much as possible. Always give your readers the two sides of every story to make your articles balanced and fair.

6. Proofread your articles. Readers can be unforgiving when it comes to grammar and spelling errors. So, proofread your articles and make sure that they’re ready for publishing before you submit them to your editors. Ensure that they are well written, to the point, and easy to understand. Make them scannable by using short paragraphs and subheadings.

P oll any group of employees—
from the
mailroom to the upper
levels of management – and
you’ll find poor workplace
communication as one of the
top organizational complaints.
For something that
we do every day, we just
don’t seem to be very good
at it. In fact, the attitude
that communication should
come naturally may be contributing
to the problem,
since workplace communication
remains one of the most
overlooked and untrained job
skills.
Although most employees
have little control over their
companies’ communication
processes, all of us contribute
to the quality of our
workplace communication
through our interactions with
our coworkers. Here are a
few tips to improve communication
in your own corner
of the workplace.
Communication Tips
For a Happier
Workplace
Just the facts, ma’am.
Many a meeting has been derailed by the one
or two participants who seem unable to limit
their input to the subject at hand. Before
speaking, envision topical bullet points and
limit your comments to them. If you find
yourself veering off course or notice others
looking at their watches as you speak, wrap it
up by briefly summarizing your main points.
Never assume that an electronic message has
been received. Digital information can be lost
in transmission or accidentally deleted by the
person receiving it. Make a habit of regularly
following up on important communications.
Give frequent updates.
It’s easy to lose perspective when working on
large-scale projects that aren’t due for completion
until months later. Schedule daily,
weekly, or monthly summaries of work in progress
in order to keep superiors, co-workers,
and subordinates up to date and aware of
changes that may affect them.
No one likes to be told no. When asked to perform
a task that may take you away from other
important work, inform the requestor of the
time or expense the task will take to accomplish,
and the effect it will have on your previously
scheduled projects. Armed with this information,
the requestor will be able to draw
his or her own conclusions about whether to
proceed, and is less likely to focus on your
perceived “unwillingness” to do the work.
Never say “no” as a first response
Limit your message list.
Nothing is more frustrating than being copied
on an e-mail chain about a topic that doesn’t
concern you. Abuse of the “copy all” function
reduces productivity, creates confusion, and
eventually causes employees to disregard important
communications because they no
longer have the time to filter relevant information
from the avalanche of information overflowing
from their in-boxes. Before hitting the
send button, mentally verify that each person
on the copy list needs access to the information
contained within.
Always follow up.
Know your audience.
