1. Writing magazines for articles is a tough job. Well, at least, if you’re just starting out. Writing these types of articles require hard work, patience, and determination. There’s simply no getting around it. You need to develop certain skills (writing, research, interviewing skills, etc.), make time to develop an idea that will really sell, and exert conscious effort to get it written. Don’t get me wrong — I am not saying that it’s impossible to succeed in this field. What I am saying is that the road can be bumpy but with perseverance and hard work, you’ll get there eventually.

2. Be ready for stiff competition. You’re not the only one who wants to make money by writing articles for magazines. In fact, there are millions of people out there who’ll be happy to work from home and get fat paychecks each time their articles are published. You can get ahead of the competition by simply being the best one in this field. Making this happen will take a lot of time. Start by improving your skills, learning from the experts, understanding your audience, being passionate on what you do, etc.

3. Get idea on how much you’ll make in the long run. You might ask me, is it all worth it? Well, let me tell you that writing articles for these publications is one of the most lucrative ways to make money from your writing skills. There are people out there who are getting paid as much as $ 1,500 per article.

4. Pick the magazines that you’ll write your articles for. For your own advantage, choose those magazines which themes are aligned to your interests and areas of expertise. Through this, you can make the whole thing not only fruitful but enjoyable as well. List down all the topics that you would like to write about and rank them base on your preferences. Then, list down the magazines that might be interested in these topics. Pick those ones that are popular and those who’ll most likely to pay you more.

5. Know what your chosen magazines are looking for. It’s imperative that you carefully study your chosen magazines. This will surely increase your chances of getting them to buy your articles. Start by reading the masthead and take note of the various kinds of editors. Also, determine if they’re accepting submission from freelance writers. Then, study their table of contents and the usual types of articles that they publish. It will also help if you read the letters that are addressed to the editors. This will give you a feel for the audience.

6. Increase the chances of your articles being published. Capture the attention of editors by making sure that your articles are the best that they’ve ever seen. Talk about topics that are relatively new or those that were not yet explored by their other writers. Offer useful, refreshing information particularly those that will interest your target audience. Also, ensure that your articles are well-written, entertaining, and engaging. Lastly, ensure that you write them base on the requirements and preferences of the editors.

I am disturbed! I really didn’t want to write this, but I must. I was trying to research a new article and post for my blog Custody of Children, and what I found frightened me. Most divorced people are very lucky! We will never experience domestic abuse or child abuse in our life times. Most of us won’t, but what about the smaller group who will?

There are many useful sites and articles out there, but none that I saw combined three separate issues. I will attempt to combine them and then I will share resource sites for each issue.

5 Domestic Abuse Myths

1. It was a private matter between adults and or she deserved it. Abuse is about power, the power to control another human being. There was no negotiation and nobody deserved it.

2. Evolution made us this way. The thought here is that thousands of years have made us dependent on each other. The act could not be helped because it was primal instinct. Fear of being alone or abandoned make it impossible for either person to prevent violence. The truth is still that abuse is about power not fear, the abuser is not experiencing fear just power.

3. Nobody is perfect-let’s forgive and forget. We all make mistakes. We forget an appointment or lose our keys. Mistakes cause frustration, cost money, and may even put someone accidentally at risk. Abuse is not a mistake or an over sight. Legal protection followed by anger management would probably be a better first step. If substance abuse is involved then some form of detox would be essential.

4. He/she said: “I’m sorry!” Victims eventually realize and experts understand that violence occurs in cycles and escalates over time. This probably wasn’t the first time and surely won’t be the last. Get help now!

5. She/he doesn’t need protection-it wasn’t that bad! Without protection and without help there is no end to the cycle of escalating violence.

5 Child Custody Myths

1. Child abuse charges occur frequently, they are normally false. Studies of various court records show that only about 10% of custody cases involve child abuse charges. Approximately half of these charges are shown to have merit.

2. Violence between the adult partners does not mean that the children are at risk. Several studies have been completed on this subject. They show that 30% to 60% of these families involve child abuse also.

3. Abusive parents don’t get custody. This data is troubling. Perhaps 70% of abusive parents win some form of custody. Claims of abuse can make the accuser appear less credible than the guilty parent.

4. Good parents don’t lose in court. There is little reason to believe this. The court doesn’t know either parent. The children may not make effective witnesses. Desperation can make the innocent parent appear less credible or even unstable.

5. Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAR) is well understood and is a reliable metric. PAR is a controversial theory that has not yet been accepted by all experts in the field.

It is important to note that the two issues are not separate, but are more part of a single behavior pattern. I chose to remove, where possible, sexist pronouns. Some sites and authors are adamant that only men are guilty of these acts, while others are not nearly so certain. I have no standing on this issue and can only ask you to follow my references for a broader discussion.

Please follow the link to my blog. I will give links to my references there.

If someone were to talk about people who live in conditions of poverty, you might expect them to be talking about people who live in developing countries or in a location where a natural disaster has recently occurred. Would you be surprised to learn that over 14 million American children live below the poverty level today? Most people in this country would be shocked to hear that number. Do we simply look at the forest of reasonably well-off people in America and forget to look at the individual trees?

Especially during the past few years of economic downturn, the problem of children in poverty is becoming a topic of which more and more people are becoming aware. There are many reasons for poverty, but with many jobs being lost and homes being foreclosed on recently, more and more people are unable to meet the high cost of living. The children are the innocent victims of circumstances beyond the control of their families. If there is not enough money, the children are undernourished, have limited educational opportunities, and minimal health care. This means that they are growing up without the advantages that most Americans take for granted.

Once you are aware of the magnitude of this problem, you will probably ask yourself what you can do to help. It may seem overwhelming and like nothing you can do could possibly make a dent. However, the little you are able to do could help one child receive needed medical care or nutritional supplies. It will make a difference to that one child. If you tell someone else about the problem and let them know that you are helping and ask them to help as well, it will make the difference to another child. One by one, the children can be helped out of this terrible situation.

Once you have decided that you can make a difference, you may wish to know how to go about finding ways to help. Many Church and Civic groups work with children who are living below the poverty level. They love to have volunteers and donations and can get you started on a path to empowering the children. There are also many other charitable organizations who have studied this problem and know how to put the least amount of money to the best use, so you know that every dollar counts. You can search online for charitable organizations dedicated to feeding America’s hungry children and make donations through them. No matter how you are able to help, don’t let another day go by without doing something for a hungry child.

The American Relief Foundation invites you to help us provide poor children around the US with support they need. We are looking for a Suffolk County Car Donation to help our cause. If you have an unwanted car consider a charity car donations.

Gay marriage is one of the most polarizing topics, yet who with any decent level of compassion and understanding would reject a law allowing gays to have the same legal rights as straight people? It comes down to tolerance.

Alas, marriage is a terrible idea for gays, particularly when gay people try to imitate the traditional marriage model. Why copy something that has a 50% + failure rate, and that’s not including those who stay unhappily married?

Here are 7 reasons gay couples should think twice about attempting to imitate the traditional marriage model.

1) Money: The concept of marriage was originally mostly about property rights, not love. Now, with over half of all marriages ending in divorce, and many of those couples fighting it out in court over money, have things really changed very much? You don’t know how your partner will react in 10 or 20 years if they don’t feel their needs are being met. Why complicate things by combining all your finances?

2) Monogamy: Before Stephen became a matchmaker, he was quite idealistic about romantic relationships. By the time he sold the company in 1997, he had a much more thorough understanding of human nature and love relationships after interviewing people about their love lives, and observing 1000s of relationships. One of the things he learned is that a sizable percentage (larger than you think) of people who assume they are the long-term, strictly monogamous type really are not. Some don’t know themselves well enough, some conform to keep the peace or get what they want, and some pretend they want strict monogamy for the rest of their lives for other reasons.

For a short period of time they can easily remain faithful, but eventually they will be miserable. Traditional marriage doesn’t take this into consideration. In addition, gay men and men in general tend to be comfortable separating sex and love, allowing them physical contact without a deep emotional connection, and they have an innate drive for multiple partners. Therefore, strict long-term monogamy may not be the best path for all gay couples. Considering the high rate of cheating among heterosexual couples, apparently it’s not the best idea for them either! Perhaps all couples would instead be better off focusing on complete honesty and safe-sex 100% of the time.

3) Religion: If you were hoping we would champion the religious themes often used against gay marriage, sorry, we’re not going to do that. Since religion originally had nothing to do with marriage, that argument is about as phony as an outspoken, anti-gay yet closeted preacher.

Our findings tell us that anti-gay sentiment will incur negative karma and result in future lives where the culprit will experience a similar circumstance, but as the victim, even for those who claim to be anti-gay in the name of religion.

4) One size does not fit all: The traditional marriage model encourages couples to conform to certain rules and customs which may not be compatible with one or both partners, gay or straight. You don’t need a certificate from the government to prove your love for each other or to anyone else.

5) Kids: Marriage used to be perceived as necessary before having children. Is it really? In reality, parents trying to fit into the traditional marriage mold too often results in disharmony, which is toxic for kids. If you want children, opt for what we call a “child contract” instead of a marriage contract. This will, unlike marriage, put the child first, rather than the demands and expectations of a traditional, and potentially draining marriage. It also financially protects the main caretaker of the child before having the child.

6) The marriage agenda: After witnessing so many agenda-minded women that straight male friends (including Scott) have dated being overly focused, in our opinion, on getting a ring on their finger, gays should be grateful (Stephen is!) they don’t have to deal with that (though Stephen has known straight women who had him in their viewfinder- yikes!).

We can certainly understand why some women (and men) seek financial security through marriage, as it’s easier to be a good parent when you don’t need to worry about money. But it takes the fun out of dating and it’s annoying when every other person is too focused on their goal of getting married instead of simply getting to know someone and allowing the connection to be what it is naturally. Dating for gay men is challenging enough and marriage would add yet another reason to stay single.

7) Marriage won’t lock in happiness or guarantee you won’t grow old alone: On the surface, marriage seems like a great idea, and of course it can be wonderful when two people are truly compatible. But when you delve into the reasons why so many people become unhappy in their relationships, and you see these same reasons over and over with a majority of couples as we have with our work, the harmful effects of traditional marriage become obvious. Getting married will never lock in or guarantee security, stability, or happiness. Because of this, it seems reasonable that people should wait until after age 40 to marry so at least they will know themselves better when they make this life-long commitment.

It sure would be nice to see gay couples have the same legal rights as straight couples, and more people, no matter what their orientation, question whether getting married is really their best option.

Prediction: In 50 years people will look back and see the obsession with traditional marriage and the blocking of gay marriage as archaic and discriminatory

There are numerous article marketing tips that you should keep in mind when it comes to keywords and fashioning articles for your website. While some of them are crucial to the success of your website, there are many others that are secondary. However, there is one specific tip you should always keep at the forefront of your mind. This tip, when followed, is extremely effective in building web-traffic and making an informative website that visitors will want to visit time and time again.

Create Quality Content!

Out of all of the article marketing tips you will ever come across, this is by and far the most important. If you truly want to market your products, services or company through this form of marketing, you need to focus on content. Many companies make the mistake of compromising on their content only because they are so busy focusing on keywords; this can hinder an article’s overall value.

The Importance Of Proper Content In Articles

The idea behind all successful article marketing tips is to create articles that are of the highest quality and can be used to properly bring attention to the products or services that you desire to advertise. If you focus your articles on keywords your articles will not be as informative and interesting as they should be and in addition, they will be difficult to read too. However, if you first focus on content alone your readers will find that your articles read much better and actually contain a lot of valuable information.

Always write your articles without keywords in mind first. Once you have completed an article with a focus on content, you can then go back and add in keywords where it makes sense for them to appear. However, be careful not to simply “plug in” keywords for keyword sakes. Focus on content and you will find that your customers will return time and time again to read your articles.
