Because of the prevalence of the internet in today’s society many thousands of papers now publish an on-line edition. It is through the use of this medium that they wish to make in roads in the communications market. It is seen as a necessary step by many because of the loss of readership due to the internet, broadcast journalism and radio. In my review I will examine an on-line edition of a newspaper from each of the continents. I will comment on some of the technical aspects each employ. I will also discuss the tools many of the papers are using, that not only make them a hybrid of broadcast, radio and print journalism but also establish them as the only medium that is using interactive reporting.

Representing the continent of Asia and the city of Hong Kong is the South China Morning Post. It is one of only a few English language news papers in the republic. The post has an air of journalistic freedom the other news papers do not seem to have. One of the lead articles outlined this concern and dispelled the rumor that China would censor the paper when the city is turned over in July.

The Morning Post is a very up to date paper that features an updated breaking news sidebar. A very useful and inviting feature which enables it to keep up with and often scoop the broadcast media. The newspaper also had a technology section which caters to the on-line user. The post also utilizes the use of javascript to make it seem more like an interactive medium.

Of the papers available from the continent of India the Times of India is the one of the finest. It features an archive that is quite extensive, a metropolis section which features two cities a day, an easily accessible reprint section for syndication of articles and a career opportunities in India section that is aimed at the overseas applicant. It has some draw backs though, the world section although very extensive is more of an overview of the continent and the region rather than the entire world. It is not as inviting as some of the other on-line news papers it has a uninviting look to it which lends it to be a little less reader friendly.

Business Day is the best offering of dailies for South Africa. It takes a little longer to load the page but that is due to a very dominate graphic which clearly outlines all of the major markets of the world. The major market graphic is the most impressive of the elements of this on-line newspaper. Coming in second is  business days entertainment section. It has well written and intelligent reviews of cinema, books, theater, wine and food. As a whole the paper has some major drawbacks, there are no pictures, essentially no world news and the front page contained a spelling error.

The Times of London is the signature paper of Europe. It is not only very easy to use it is also very insightful and timely. It has a crossword puzzle,  a first among all of the newspapers that I reviewed for this assignment.  It has a true world news section which has comprehensive coverage of the world. It has a very slick look that is complimented by many color and black and white pictures. Many of the stories incorporated graphics which lead to a very contemporary wed designed look.  The most compelling aspect of the paper was the feature “personal times”. Personal times, is a customized news paper designed from the readers general interests. The feature was one of many which distinguished the times from any other I reviewed. Overall the times was a very exciting newspaper and one which is very insightful into its readers needs.

An extremely modern looking design dominates the Christchurch Press, one of the three on-line papers from the small island. It has the distinction of being the only paper I could find that had a photo gallery. The gallery was a very welcomed find amongst the many papers on the internet that all but abandon photojournalism for more graphics and text. Surprisingly,  it does not have a world news a section. It has some unusual fare for an on-line news paper, such as, a motoring section, a teen section, a TV guide and a computer tools section. It also distinguishes itself from other on-line news papers by offering sound files. The sound files demonstrate how the medium of on-line news and broadcast will probably be a merging and gray area in the future.

The Vancouver Sun is my installment for the North American continent. It is a very efficient news paper that maximizes all the space it uses and loads very rapidly. I has  distinct departments such as: a net guide, a personal finance section and a trivia page. It is similar to other western papers in that it has an extensive world news section that is very comprehensive. In the world section is a scrolling synopsis of the days news that is very attractive to the on-line reader. Overall the Vancouver sun represents some of the finest North America has to offer in the form of the on-line newspaper.

In my search of the news papers of South America I did not come across one that was printed in English or gave you the option of choosing one in English.  I choose The Gazeta of Brazil to review because it seemed to be the most modern of the South American newspapers. although I could not read the features or the news articles it seemed to have an extensive listing of all categories as well as  a large world news section.

Although English and Urdu are the official languages of Pakistan, the Pakistani media do not release all of their reports in either English or Urdu. Some of the Pakistani media cater to their Arabic speaking listeners/readers. Some cater to the French speaking residents of Pakistan. Some cater to those in Pakistan for whom Russian has always been their mother tongue.

The media in Pakistan has not ignored the native Pakistani people who do not speak and read Urdu. There are some media outlets in Pakistan that release their reports in Pushto. There are others that release their reports in Sindhi or Uzbek.

The Pakistan newspapers do not differ only as to the language of their target audience. The focus for each of the newspapers in Pakistan falls into one of three categories. Some newspapers publish general interest information. Some publish business news. A third group of newspapers focuses on religious news.

One can find both daily and weekly papers among the Pakistan newspapers. Some of the papers that come out only once a week have managed to gather a large number of readers. Readers study carefully the content of any paper. Readers also look for reports that reveal the opinion of a paper’s editor.

Readers have found both informative content and forthright opinions in the Friday News. That paper has its main office in Lahore. The reporters who submit stories to Friday News do not hesitate to deliver critical reporting on any national issue.

Among Pakistan newspapers, the best-studied papers are not always those from the nation’s capital. The Frontier Post, which has it main office in Lahore, has many readers. Those readers want to learn the latest information from the area of Pakistan that borders on Afghanistan.

The newspaper editors, editors who have long had to respect the wishes of the Pakistani authorities, have been quick to realize the potential of the Internet. There are a number of online newspapers within Pakistan. One of the largest is the Online International News Network. It does not shrink from covering stories that have received scant coverage in the national papers.

The readers of the Pakistan newspapers definitely have an open mind. One newspaper now in Pakistan is the Pakistan Christian Post, Pakistan’s first Christian paper. Pakistanis who go online for information can read very challenging statements coming from Balochistan. The information posted on includes a call for the self determination of those living in Balochistan.

In 2007 the Pakistan newspapers provided their readers with a useful insight into way that Pakistan has played a key role in world events. Prior to December of 2007, the Pakistan newspapers covered the “constructive role” taken by China at the India-Pakistan negotiations. The papers also offered detailed accounts about the visit to Pakistan made by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.

After December, the Pakistan newspapers should give the world a clearer view of how the country has responded to the recent lifting of the emergency rule of law. They should also offer a continuing stream of information on any significant confrontations along the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

How to prime articles made of recycled newspapers. It is a practical piece of advice by mistress of paper weaving Elena Tishchenko.
Primer is nontransparent white liquid that penetrates deeply into material and creates thin film when dry. Priming copes with two tasks at once. Firstly it makes surface of paper articles stronger and more durable. Secondly it saves paint. While priming an article, don’t forget of basic safety measures because primer is a toxic material.

Regardless of what age you are—be it you are a child, a teenager or an adult, at some point or the other you have witnessed, at times, how the Christian faith has grown and faltered and learnt to evolve from failures. Over the past centuries, the faith of man has dwindled, made him question Him. Christian newspaper aims at changing this very scenario. Christian newspapers look at world news from a Christian perspective and the articles are accompanied with comments and Biblical references. The newspapers also contain sermons, and excerpts from the scriptures and also real life stories that are of inspirational nature asking the Christian community to not lose faith in the Almighty. The stories usually have anecdotes or incidents from readers who relate how faith and prayer delivered them from a tricky situation. You will also find articles which spread messages like “I’m Christian because…”, “I wonder why God…”, “My faith is strongest when…” etc. Do you have any of your own experiences to share with readers from all over the Christian community? Then share it via a Christian newspaper.

A Christian newspaperis also associated with various charitable institutions and churches and organizes fund raising events to help and aid such institutions. They also arrange several events in the Christian community like mass sermons, Christian singles events etc.

The Christian faithpreaches that love is the answer to all the miseries of man. Brotherhood and benevolence are the keys to a peaceful world. The Christian faith lays stress on service to mankind. Christian newspaper follow suit and regularly report global crisis news and how we could have avoided them or can avoid them in the future. It also reports on natural disasters so as to pull on the conscience of the people all over the world to extend a helping hand.

A Christian newspaper is something that can be read by everybody in the family. It does not contain cheap gossip or any kind of slander. It is truly a family newspaper. For businessmen who are into Christian business, these papers are a boon as they offer advertisement spaces at really cheap rates. The advertisements can be published in both regional and national papers and thus you determine the reach of your business. All in all, a Christian newspaper is one of the few papers completely abiding by religion—it is unique in its own right.
