This week Craig looks at the expressed powers of the President of the United States – that is the ones you can find in the Constitution. From appointing judges and granting pardons, to vetoing laws and acting as the nation’s chief diplomat on foreign policy, the Commander in Chief is a pretty powerful person, but actually not as powerful as you might think. The Constitution also limits presidential powers to maintain balance among the three branches of government. Next week we’ll talk about the president’s powers NOT mentioned in the Constitution – implied powers.

This is a video on the effects of bullying just a short movie
Why Bullying Is a Big Problem?Media attention in recent years has been brought to the global problem of bullying. However, lately there have been more opposing opinions to the widespread attention given to bullying. Nick Gillespie of Reasontv, states that since previous generations did not make a great deal of bullies, the current attention given to bullying is mere sensationalism and not something of real concern. Others believe that it’s a matter of shifting priorities. Many heinous crimes were tolerated in the past and thanks to activism and global social awareness, they are now condemned. Examples on such issues include slavery, homophobia and women’s suffrage.Humans are aggressive by nature. Bullying probably started since the dawn of time. In the 18th century, bullying-related behaviors like peer-on-peer harassment were very common but not treated with the seriousness that it deserved. However, humans are not doomed to being bullied. We should learn how to behave respectfully with others rather than to react purely on instinct. Just as we can learn to be bullies, we can also learn not to be bullies and stand up for those who are bullied.
Are Bullies Victims Too?
The surprising thing to note from this research is that bullies who victimized other students were just as likely to attempt suicide as their victims were. Clearly, the bullies are suffering from problems as well.

There are many reasons why a woman might decide to end a pregnancy–and many barriers to safe and legal abortion. As the next historic battle for reproductive freedom reaches the US Supreme Court, we must stand up and speak out. http://drawtheline.org
Above, actress Dascha Polanco of Orange Is the New Black shares the story of Kayleigh, a young woman who describes the care and considerations that went into her decision to have an abortion. The video is part of a series, the Draw the Line Monologues, in which top actresses bring much-needed attention to the diverse experiences women across the U.S. face when they make the very personal decision to end a pregnancy.
The Center for Reproductive Rights worked with individual women like Kayleigh to develop the scripts so they accurately reflect their gripping personal experiences. The stories were submitted to the Center’s Draw the Line campaign by women across the country who were inspired to speak out as a way to urge more Americans to stand up for reproductive freedom.
The Center for Reproductive Rights is heading to the U.S. Supreme Court for the most important reproductive rights case in almost 25 years. The case, Whole Woman’s Health v. Cole, will determine whether Texas can shut down nearly all abortion care providers in the state, placing countless women at risk of serious harm.
For more than 40 years, the Supreme Court has said the Constitution protects a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her health and family, including abortion.
Now the Court must reject political schemes to prevent women from acting on these personal decisions. The health of millions of women in Texas—and across the country—is at stake.
The majority of Americans support the constitutional right to safe and legal abortion. Now’s the time to show the Supreme Court that you’re one of them.
The Draw the Line campaign consists of three parts:
– Personal Stories: Anyone can share their story of why reproductive rights has mattered to them.
– Draw the Line Monologues: Celebrities read real women’s stories about the importance of safe, legal abortion care.
– Take the Challenge: Show that you agree it’s time to draw the line. Share the message on social media with the hashtag #DrawTheLine.
We’re asking you to stand with us against political attacks on reproductive health care and say: This is where I draw the line.
Let’s hope those who claimed the video didn’t exist are the first in line to test that claim. We are a nation lost if we don’t see this evil for what it is. Amanda Marcotte, who claimed that the grisly abortion video Carly Fiorina described during the second Republican debate “only happened in her head,” might want to check out TIME, which reveals the source of the video Fiorina described and links to the complete footage. Michael Scherer reports that the footage Fiorina described was collected by Gregg Cunningham, the founder of the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform and an anti-abortion activist.
David Daleiden, who created the Center for Medical Progress videos, edited in the Cunningham footage to illustrate a story that he had been told on camera of a medical technician witnessing an abortion that resulted in an extracted fetus with moving legs and beating heart. The full source video, which is extremely graphic, lasts about 13 minutes, and shows a fetus being extracted from the mother, placed in a metal bowl, prodded with medical instruments and handled by someone in the room. At times the fetus appears to move, and at other times it appears to have a pulse.
TIME at first reported that Cunningham was convinced the footage was of an abortion and not a miscarriage, as no attempt was made to give medical assistance. However, the article was updated to note that “current medical guidelines do not call for resuscitation of a fetus at 17 and a half weeks.” We’re reminded of Sen. Barack Obama’s argument against passage of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act in 2001: … whenever we define a previable fetus as a person that is protected by the equal protection clause or the other elements in the Constitution, what we’re really saying is, in fact, that they are persons that are entitled to the kinds of protections that would be provided to a child, a nine-month-old child that was delivered to term. That determination then, essentially, if it was accepted by a court, would forbid abortions to take place.
I mean, it — it would essentially bar abortions, because the equal protection clause does not allow somebody to kill a child, and if this is a child, then this would be an antiabortion statute. In any case, the video that Fiorina described but which doesn’t exist is available online. It goes without saying, but the footage is extremely graphic — we’ve chosen to link to it rather than embed it here as even the still frame might be too much for some. Can you believe how fiercely the left and others defend their butchery? God help us and Carly is right.
