I was talking to a new author the other day about ‘being everywhere’ and once we worked out – with a few laughs – that I was not talking about physically cloning himself he slowly started to get what I meant about having people continually trip over him.

My definition of being ‘famous’ is about having an increasing number of people recognise you and want to know more about you. While there are many celebrities out there who seem to have made a media game out of being famous, and will strip, gossip, expose themselves in a number of unsavoury ways to just get noticed, when it comes to wanting your target market – i.e. those who will spend money with you or on your products – you have to be seen to be where they are looking. Everywhere!

This means using Social Media! Twitter your name and your products, opinions, knowledge, wisdom out there, write blogs about things that matter to them, and use Twitter to drive people to your blog, your blog to drive people to your website, and your website to drive interest in your products and services.

This means being generous with your resources. Give away information, to keep your fans coming back for more. What they come back with they buy – but give a lot away so that they really understand the depth of your expertise and they’ll want more and more. Use webinars too – get in front of people as often and as easily as possible.

This means getting yourself on the news. Well at the very least, plan to get at least a handful of good press releases out and picked up every year so that you better your chances of being interviewed, reviewed and talked about. These might be with trade journals, online publications or regular magazines and newspapers. What ever media you use, make sure these are where your potential clients and fans are looking so that your name starts to become familiar with them in relation to your particular expertise, products and services.

And this means having good signage. Even in this digital age, you still need good business cards, and compliment these with online or virtual ‘cards’, easy to follow signatures on your emails, and notices about what you have coming up on your website, email signatures, signage and handouts when you are speaking at events, even signwrite your car if you feel that’s appropriate.

Just focus on getting noticed, in the right way that works for you and gets you good publicity. Make that your mission… understand how to access the best people to help with this and to your target market, you will certainly soon become ‘famous’.

It may not happen overnight – in fact, overnight success rarely takes less than 1000 nights – but it will happen if you are consistent and focused on mixing all the elements together in the best possible way.

It is classic among practitioners of abuse. Verbally they can be unbelievably cruel to you; publicly humiliating you without a second thought. When they get you home, they really let you have it; cranking it up a notch until you are reduced to tears. Seeing you like that gives them an energy boost. They understand completely the power they have over you and now it’s time to assert that power to its fullest extent.

For the ones who practice the physical it’s just slightly different. They may or may not hit you in public but when they get you home, watch out. And just like the verbal, seeing you hurt physically and emotionally gives them an added sense of power. There’s no doubt in their minds about who runs the show.

Now here comes the trick. They may come back to you and apologize (somewhat) or berate you even more. But the end game is the same. They would not have done what they did if you had not made them. The abuser does wrong and expertly lays one hundred percent of the blame and responsibility for their actions on your shoulders.

Unfortunately many victims fall for it. They start believing that it had to be something that they said or did which caused this abuse. They know the other person loves them. Why? Because they said so. Even in the midst of the abuse they stated their love. So it must be something you are doing.

Maybe some outside influences also got into the act. Family and friends offered up their opinions. Lo and behold wouldn’t you know it? It all points back to you. Some said so directly. Others stated it in a roundabout way but you caught their meaning.

Mix that in with some self doubt and next thing you know you are stuck with a question that never goes away: What am I doing wrong?

The answer is nothing. The wrong is being done by the abuser. They have no right to assault you verbally or physically because things are not going exactly as they would like or they have issues inside of them that they have never resolved and refuse to deal with.

Life is not always a bed of roses but you have made the conscious effort to take it as it comes without lashing out at someone who is supposed to be your partner.

If you are being physically assaulted call the police, get out of the relationship and seek safe haven. That last one is key. The news is filled with stories of abusers who refused to give up their ex. Drunk with power they think it is their right to reclaim what belongs to them (Yes I said what not who) and in many tragic instances they stop at nothing.

With the verbal abuser, if trying to get them to see the error of their ways does not work then move on and do not wait too long.

The point is that not only are they wrong in how they treat you but more importantly that you are a person with value, dignity and unique gifts that only you possess. No one has the right to make you feel any less than that.

If you find that you have been applying to many jobs and not getting any call backs or interview you may want to change your strategy. At first, changing your strategy can be scary and even a little bit intimidating.

When you start to change the way you think about the job market and the jobs you are applying to you may have a better chance at ascertaining a job. There are a lot of people that do not understand how to make this transition.

First, you should start to extend the scope of your applications. Apply for jobs that you maybe would not have thought to apply to before, but still making sure that you have the needed qualifications to get that job.

A great example of this is in the medical field. There are so many diverse positions that you can apply for when you have been licensed as a doctor or even when you have all of your licenses to be a registered nurse.

More than likely, if you are a registered nurse you have a specialty in the hospital. When you are applying to new jobs you may want to take the time to apply for jobs that are outside of your specialty.

When you are taking the time to understand what a company is looking for you have to make sure that you know what you are capable of. Sometimes you may have some restrictions that limit your options.

There are a lot of people that do not take the time to apply for some positions that may end up being beneficial in the long run. If you can broaden your cope you might as well take the time to apply to those positions.

As you are taking the time to apply for new position you may also want to apply to new agencies. Applying to new agencies is a great way to get your name out into the job applicant sphere.

Applying to an agency that sends nurses all over the world may be an option that you never considered beforehand. Taking the time to think about this option may end up proving very beneficial in the long run.

When you apply to one of these agencies you have to make sure that you are free to go out into the world and travel. There are many different places that you can travel to and work in when you are accepted to one of these jobs.

With these types of jobs you may have the option of applying to a specific area in the world. This may provide you with a new and exciting job that could change the way you view your job for the rest of your life.

If you are able to work in a third world country you will understand the differences in the medical problems that people are facing. You may become more appreciative of the country and the atmosphere you live in.

Some individuals apply to these programs and end up not enjoying their job. When you are thinking about applying you want to make sure that you know what you are getting yourself into and you are being honest about your personality.

When you work with one of these agencies you will probably not be settling down for a permanent job anytime soon. There are so many different jobs that they will send you to throughout your contract that you may never be able to feel that you are at home.

If you know that you are looking for something a little more permanent and you want to start settling down this type of job may not be the best for you. Whether or not you apply to one of these jobs it may be worth exploring.

As you apply or these jobs you should make sure that you are checking with multiple employers. Depending on the agency you sign up with you may be able to have your housing and some of your basic commodities paid for.

Liberate yourself from the grasp of unemployment by broadening the scope of your applications. The more variety in the companies you are applying for and the sheer number of applications you are filling out will increase the chances of finding a job.
