Your content writer is a person who loves to read and write and is good at both. Content writers typically create content for the Web. However, you can hire content writers for more tasks than writing for your blog.

Besides writing blog posts, you can have your content writer write your website content, research, outline, write e-books, and create descriptions of podcasts. The objective is research is to create blog posts, videos, podcasts, e-books, infographics, and even some information products.

The objective here is to simply gather the raw material you’ll need to build on. Also, publishing an e-book is a great way to build authority and produce something a little more substantial for your online followers. It’s also a perce opt-in magnet – a piece of content you can use to build an online mailing list.

Aside from writing content, these writers might also be responsible for making sure your website pages and content connect correctly. They can also responsible for setting the overall tone of the site. Content writers accomplish these tasks by researching and deciding what information to include or exclude from the site.

Content writers can also read through similar articles and give recommendations to similar topic. They can even upload articles to blogs.

However, not all writers will be able to do this from the beginning, but it’s an easy skill you can train your writers to do, especially if your website runs on an easy-to use platform like WordPress or Squarespace.

So again, content writers are able to do an assortment of tasks we’ve already stated. Be mindful of these various ways you can use your writers to produce value for your website or business.

Currently working for a content mill and it is sheer hell. I worked all day for $33 and upwork takes a chunk of that! I'm so glad i realized this work is unethical and your video confirmed this for me. Thank You very much for making this video Jorden!

  6. The Al Show says:

Content mills and bidding sites are all a waste of time.
If you are a freelance writer, just do what traditionalist freelancers like me did:
Find your own publications and clients.
Also Keep all your money-never pay percentages and fees to anyone.
If you don't want to listen to me, fine.
Enjoy losing money and ending up broke after every piece you write.

  7. Nikara says:

  9. Casual David says:

Just found your channel and I loved it 🙂

  10. Maria Perry Mohan says:

I signed up with a couple of content mills recently but didn't actually get to start working with them. I just wanted to check them out. Next thing, my inbox was spammed like crazy with emails trying to send me insurance and the like. I tend to sign up for a lot of stuff, but I was like "what's going on? I didn't sign up for this." One of those horrible sites had assigned me this very long number with letters and numbers in it and I noticed that number quoted on one of those asinine emails. I immediately unsubscribed from all of them. Another such website actually had the nerve to demand a fee for signing up, which I thought was incredible. I dashed off a furious email and told them where to go.

  11. James L. Cole says:

I truly enjoy your writing and now your videos. I am in the process of a change of occupation so to speak. I have been in warehousing and everything that goes with it for over 30 years so that has made this change quite interesting and challenging. I want to thank you for talking in a way that I can "get it"!! Now to figure out how and where the things I have learned over the years will translate. Thanks again Jorden and looking forward to more!

  12. Rohi Shetty says:

Hi Jorden, liked and subscribed and shared. Such great advice! It's a race to the bottom indeed. What I like best is that you offer a solution – a free e-course. I've already taken it and it's better than many paid courses. Hooyah! Looking forward to the next video.

  13. Evette Champion says:

I keep meaning to read your newsletter (which I have saved), but I get so swamped with work (you know, gotta take on tons of low paying jobs to make ends meet because I used UpWork to get that work) and I haven't gotten around to it… I'm so glad I did read the latest newsletter and found your YouTube. I am subscribing and hitting that "notification" button so I don't miss a beat.

Really looking forward to more videos and useful tips and advice on Freelance Writing!

  14. John Espirian says:

Another great job, Jorden. So much of this advice applies to freelance editors, too – definitely one for my network to watch. You rule!
